The following information is a simple fact sheet to clear up any misinformation currently on the transition from the multi license to a single lease at the motorsports complex. You are welcome to contact the Airport Manager or City Manager to verify any of these statements.

NEW INFORMATION: The current Redding Dragstrip, Road Course, and Motocross track property is now available for Request for Proposal (RFP). Details regarding the RFP can be accessed on the City of Redding’s official website. Redding Motorsports Park is committed to submitting a proposal for the new lease. However, it is important to note that the minimum bid and insurance requirements will significantly increase the annual fees to the city, which in turn will lead to a substantial rise in admission and racing fees. In the event that Redding Motorsports Park is unable to secure the new lease, we will offer the new leaseholder, for purchase, all current equipment necessary to operate a dragstrip. If this happens we sincerely hope that the new owner possesses the experience and passion required to successfully run a dragstrip and promote the spirit of drag racing, allowing us to continue our racing legacy.

FACT: Redding Motorsports Park is complying with the City of Redding’s request to encompass the road course in a new Master lease. We feel that this will be a great improvement for the Shasta County residents to be able to attend a wider variety of events including professional spectator attended races.

FACT: The Redding Airport consultant and Airport manager, at the time, contacted Redding Motorsports Park starting in 2022 requesting Redding Motorsports Park to take over the current Road Course lease and each year following. As we were working hard to improve the dragstrip we could not take our focus off of our improvement plans at the dragstrip to assist in the improvements and promotions needed to assist the road Course. NOTE: Tony Trimp did not contact the City asking to take over the road course. Only replied to the City’s request “maybe in the future”

FACT: The new Master Lease draft includes track dates, set aside, for both the Shasta Kart Club and Shasta Super moto Club. These dates are completely separate from dates that Redding Motorsports Park proposes to promote events. NOTE: The clubs are offered (4) weekends/(8) total days, annually where Shasta Super moto and Shasta Kart Klub can concurrently utilize the road course track at not cost. Such activities will still require adequate insurance coverage and incidental costs such as portable bathroom fees, safety/security, gate staff, minimum Certified EMT and clean up of garbage on used areas. In addition, to the (4) weekends Shasta Super moto and Shasta Kart Club can schedule up to (10) event days per year. Such events require a track rental fee to contribute to the maintenance and upgrades to the Motorsports Park.

FACT: Redding Motorsports has always indicated, to the clubs, that we need their help and would like to have them participate during the planning, promoting, participating during cart racing, motorcycle racing, drifting and any other events that participants and spectators would like to attend. NOTE: We are not trying to push any clubs out. In fact, this statement does not make sense as we need the clubs and their racers and families to assist in planning and promoting and coordinating these events. In fact, a logo was created in 2024 including Kart Racing, Super Moto, Drifting, Autocross. Why would we spend the money to create a website and logo to include the clubs if we wanted to push them out.

FACT: In 2023 the Airport got a new Manager as well as the City got a new Attorney who continued efforts, of the previous manager, to update the lease and bring it into compliance. During this time they discovered that the appropriate insurance was not being provided by the clubs using the road course. NOTE: The new fees forced upon the road course is also being forced upon the dragstrip. The prices to use the tracks is under the control of the City and has nothing to do with Redding Motorsports Park.

FACT: Redding Motorsports Park has continued to provide current and industry standard insurance since 2022. This is why the Dragstrip was allowed to continue operating and was also allowed to use the road course for several events over the passed 2 years. NOTE: the clubs had an opportunity to provide the appropriate insurance so they could use the track in 2025, after their lease was terminated December 31, 2024. They did not provide the appropriate insurance.

FACT: Within the Redding Motorsports Park current license we are allowed use of the road course. NOTE: In 2023 Redding Motorsports rented the road course from Mark Monroe (Shasta super moto) for the amount of $2,500 cash plus $2,500 in track improvements which actually consisted of $3,400 worth of crack filler and labor to lay the filler.

FACT: The FAA and the Redding Airport are conducting an updated property assessment. This assessment is for all of the property allocated to the airport and dragstrip and motocross track and road course. It is currently proposed, by the airport, that the lease for all the property will increase by some 300%. Also, at the same time the City is asking to increase the insurance coverage that all the tracks provide. It is unknown what this price increase will be as currently Safehold, which is the dragstrip’s insurance provider, has never written a policy to that extent. NOTE: These cost increases need to be paid by someone. Therefore, events conducted at all of the tracks must increase their promotions to bring more people to the track to pay for these increased costs. It is understandable that the Kart Club and Shasta super moto are in opposition to these changes and want it to revert back to 2023 pricing. We feel the same way. We do not want to pay more for our lease and more for insurance. Do we have a choice? Not sure.
